Brand uses glass & PET plastic for their product packaging.
They accept back empties for recycling & offer refills on some products.

Brand partnered with TerraCycle® to provide a collection and recycling program for beauty and skin care products and packaging in L’OCCITANE boutiques.
However, this is not being done globally where the brand is available. In developing and third world countries all waste & plastic ends up in landfills.

Brand tests on animals when required by law.

Synthetic fragrance are known to contain a mix of various toxins - unless these are clearly and transparently mentioned as complete fragrance by the brand. Unfortunately very few brands give complete fragrance info as they consider this as proprietary information. When it comes to Synthetic fragrance this is tricky as they can be known pollutants in it.

Though brand lists complete ingredients it needs to clearly indicate supply chain for Mica
And it should be noted that the brand is non-responsive to simple questions when asked.

They give back to the community through the LOccitane Foundation. Founded in 2006, both of their initiatives support blind individuals worldwide and financial freedom for women in Burkina Faso.
Their team is also involved in various foundation projects such as reconstruction after the tsunami in Japan. and the conservation of the natural heritage of the Provence region.
